Abstract:Objective To study the distribution characteristics of parasitic fleas on small rodents in Kangbao pasture of plague natural focus in Hebei Province,so as to provide reference for plague scientific prevention and control. Methods The data on parasitic flea of small rodents from 2007 to 2024 were sorted and analyzed in Kangbao pasture,Hebei Province, and the flea infection rate, flea index, and flea composition of small rodents in different years and seasons were compared. Results From 2007 to 2024,a total of 910 small rodents were investigated in Kangbao pasture of the natural focus in Hebei Province, and 254 rodents were infected with fleas.A total of 965 fleas belonging to 4 families,9 genera, and 16 species were collected, with an average flea infection rate of 27.91%and an average flea index of 1.06.The dominant species of fleas were Neopsylla bidentatiformis(20.10%),Ophthalmopsylla praefecta praefecta(18.13%),Frontopsylla luculenta(16.58%),O.kukuschkini(15.54%)and N.abagaitui(10.05%).The annual variation of flea infection rate and flea index of small rodents showed an overall upward trend from 2007 to 2024.In 2008,2010,2017,and 2020-2024,the flea infection rate and flea index of small rodents were at a high level and higher than the average. The seasonal trend of flea infection rate and flea index of small rodents from May to November were consistent, with a multi peak flea infection rate and a bimodal flea index. The flea infection rate of small rodents in April,June,August, and November were higher than the average, and the flea index in June and August were higher than the average. Conclusion The increase of flea infection rate and flea index of small rodents has a certain indicating effect on the epidemic of animal plague. When the flea infection rate and flea index of small rodents are at a high level, especially when animal plague outbreaks occur in the surrounding counties, the occurrence of native animal plague or the import of plague in adjacent areas should be alerted.
