Formal nest of Reticulitermes chinensis

Abstract：Objective To understand the formal nest structure of Reticulitermes chinensis.Methods The formal nest structure and related data of R.chinensis were obtained by observation and measurement.Results The formal nest of R.chinensis was fan-shaped,which was composed of termite excreta and soil particles.The surface was full of closely connected chambers,and the chambers were smooth.The length,width and height of the chambers were 1.0-3.0 cm,0.6-2.2 cm,0.5-2.2 cm,respectively.And the termite roads between the chambers were connected.Conclusion This paper first discovered and introduced the formal nest of R.chinensis,which was the first report in China.
