Epidemiological characteristics of dengue fever in Bao'an District,Shenzhen from 2013 to 2023

Abstract：Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of dengue fever epidemic in Bao'an District,Shenzhen,from 2013 to 2023.Methods The data of dengue fever cases in Bao'an District from 2013 to 2023 were collected from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention.The epidemiological characteristics were analyzed by descriptive epidemiological analysis.Results From 2013 to 2023,a total of 479 cases of dengue fever were reported in Bao'an District.The annual incidence ranged from 0.04/100 000 to 3.23/100 000,with an average annual incidence of 1.06/100 000.There was no deaths of dengue fever had been reported.And dengue fever occurred in outbreaks in 2014(124 cases,25.89%),2019(152 cases,31.73%)and 2023(145 cases,30.27%).The distribution of onset time was unimodal,and was mainly concentrated from September to November.The majority of the cases in the epidemic area were young adults between the ages of 20-50(72.86%).Among the cases,there were 309 males and 170 females,with a male-to-female ratio of 1.818∶1.In terms of occupational distribution,the main occupations of the cases were worker(161 cases,33.61%).The top two streets with the highest cumulative incidence were Xin'an street(149 cases,31.11%)and Xixiang street(133 cases,27.77%).Local cases accounted for 62.42%,while imported cases accounted for 37.58%,Among the imported cases,there were64 domestic cases(13.36%)and 116 overseas cases(24.22%).The main sources of domestic imports were from the Pearl River Delta such as Guangzhou and Dongguan,while overseas imports were mainly from Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia and Thailand.The main serotype of dengue virus was DENV-1 virus(152 cases,86.36%).Conclusion The epidemic characteristics of dengue fever in Bao'an District of Shenzhen were the coexistence of imported cases and local transmission,as well as sporadic and outbreak,with obvious seasonality.
