Study on the status and capability improvement strategies of emergency response team for mosquito-borne diseases in Jiading District,Shanghai

Abstract:Objective To investigate the current status of emergency response teams for mosquito-borne diseases in Jiading District,Shanghai,and propose countermeasures for existing problems to enhance the capabilities of teams.Methods Group discussions and questionnaire were used to understand the current situation,emergency response capabilities and experience of teams of twelve streets(towns)in May to June 2023.Continuous variables were processed and analyzed by Excel 2016 and R 4.4.0 softwares.Results Twelve streets(towns)had established emergency response teams for mosquito-borne diseases.There were 106 team members,and the age of members was 48(44,53)years old.73.6%of the team members had professional qualifications.The sterilization equipment and drug required for mosquito control were sufficient for emergency response.Eight streets(towns)had experience in emergency response to epidemic focus of mosquito-borne diseases in the past five years(2019-2023).Conclusion The emergency response teams for mosquito-borne diseases maintain stable operation,but there are problems such as aging of team members,some team members not yet obtaining professional qualifications,and some streets(towns)have no emergency response experience.It is necessary to build a younger emergency response team,improve the quality of training,establish a regional collaborative response mechanism,and then can further enhance the capability of the teams in Jiading District,Shanghai.
