Abstract:Objective To investigate the cause and range of an unexplained rash and pruritus in a school, and put forward the corresponding prevention and control measures. Methods The prevalence and clinical symptoms of cases in the school were collected through epidemiological investigation, indoor and outdoor flea index was calculated by the sticky trap method, the density and species of fleas on the body surface of rodents were monitored by the combing method, and the rodent density was monitored.5%beta-cypermethrin was used to control the fleas via residual spraying, with the comprehensive management of health regulation and other measures,so as to eliminate the invasion and harassment of Ctenocephalides felis.Excel 2016 and SPSS 27.0 softwares were used for data processing and analysis. The infested rates of flea in different monitoring sites were compared by Fisher-Freeman-Halton exact test. Results A total of 65 people were found to have present or previous symptoms of rash and pruritus, among them,52 were residential students(80.00%);the result of microscopic identification was C.felis;according to surveillance for flea density, the vacant house and the surrounding passageway in the school were the key areas of high flea density distribution of C.felis.The infested rate of flea was 63.33%,flea index was 8.20 fleas/piece.There was significant difference in infested rate of flea in different areas(x2=93.658,P=0.000).The captured rate of rodents was 3.00%(9/300)and infested rate of flea was 0.Conclusion The event is a cluster event of C.felis infestation in a school. The main reason was that stray cats carrying C.felis outside the school often broke into the campus, and a large number of fleas breed in vacant houses inside the school, and spread to other areas. The investigation process provides a successful reference case for similar health pest infestation.
