Surveillance and analysis of murine animals and their pathogens in Jilong Port in 2023

Abstract:Objective To investigate murine animals and the pathogens they carry in Jilong Port.Methods In 2023,murine animals were captured using rat-cage traps,classified and identified rodent species,then collected their livers,splenic organs,kidneys,lungs to detection pathogens such as Yersinia pestis,Hantavirus,Leptospira,Borrelia burgdorferi,Rickettsia,Bartonella.Results Forty-two murine animals were captured in Jilong Port,and a total of five species were identified,namely,Rattus losea,Rattus tanezumi,Niviventer fulvescens,Rattus rattus,and Mus musculus,of which the dominant species were Rattus losea(42.90%)and Rattus tanezumi(42.90%).4 cases of Bartonella nucleic acid was detected positively in the livers of captured murine animals,the detection rate is 9.52%.Conclusion Murine animals in Jilong Port are naturally infected with Bartonella.It is necessary to strengthen the surveillance and take targeted control measures.
