Survey on the density and insecticide resistance of Aedes albopictus in Shan County,Shandong Province,in 2023

Abstract：Objective To understand the density,seasonal fluctuations and the resistance level of Aedes albopictus,a vector of dengue fever in Shan County,so as to provide scientific basis for the rational selection of insecticides and mosquito control in the local area.Methods Select four villages in Shan County as monitoring sites and collect Aedes albopictus larvae using spoon fishing method,and collect adult mosquitoes using a double-layer stacked net method.The resistance level of Aedes albopictus larvae to commonly used insecticides was measured using larval immersion method.Results A total of 4 526 adult mosquitoes were captured in Shan County in 2023,and the population density reached its peak in August.The larvae showed high resistance to deltamethrin and cypermethrin,with resistance multiples of 52.00 and 169.00;moderate resistance to glyphosate and dichlorvos,with resistance multiples of 9.40 and 5.39;sensitivity to Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt).Conclusion The density of Aedes albopictus is relatively high in Shan County,and there is a risk of dengue fever transmission.The resistance level to deltamethrin and cypermethrin has reached a high level,and it has also developed a certain level of resistance to commonly used chemical insecticides such as dichlorvos and glyphosate.
