Abstract：Botanical insecticides have various advantages,including high efficacy,low toxicity,no pollution,high specificity,and low possibility of triggering resistance.These characteristics for botanical insecticides coincide with the trend that sanitary insecticides are transformed from the conventional chemicals to eco-friendly preventive drugs.In this paper,we reviewed the main active components of plants and their secondary substances with killing and repellent efficacies.We also focused on the main mode and mechanism of action of plant-derived substances against ticks.Finally,the current problems were delineated in the development and utilization of plant-derived compounds for tick control,and the prospects of their development were given.
