Abstract:Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics and laboratory detection ability of an imported falciparum malaria case in Jinzhou, and provide the basis for preventing and controlling plasmodium falciparum. Methods The clinical data and epidemiological information were analyzed, and the blood sample of malaria patient was detected with microscopy, rapid diagnostic test (RDT) and fluorescence quantitative PCR (qPCR).Results The patient infected with malaria in the highly populated malaria area of Cameroon, and had been treated with artemisinin for eight days. After about a month at home. The patient was hospitalized with clinical symptoms of persistent fever, headache, chills and diarrhea.Microscopic examination showed ring forms and gametocytes of malaria parasites. The patient was diagnosed as plasmodium falciparum infection by positive RDT antigen and qPCR gene detection. Conclusion Relevant departments should strengthen the management of migrant workers, and improve the efficiency of blood detection of malaria parasite through microscopy combined with RDT and qPCR tests, finally provide laboratory basis for early diagnosis and treatment.
