Establishment and assessment of a graded early warning system for dengue fever in Shenzhen

Abstract:Objective To establish a graded early warning system for dengue fever,and provide scientific basis for the prevention and control of dengue fever in Shenzhen.Methods The enter-indicators and the judge content of indicators for the graded early warning system were confirmed based on relevant literature and the data of vector surveillance and human case surveillance in Shenzhen from 2005 to 2015.Results According to the data of dengue fever surveillance in Shenzhen and on the basis of factors such as Breteau Index (BI),Mosquito Oviposition Index (MOI) and new human cases of dengue fever,the warning system for dengue fever graded Ⅰ-Ⅳwas established.The dengue fever risk index was divided into four grades:grade Ⅰ (the risk of infection was very high),grade Ⅱ (the risk of infection was high),grade Ⅲ (the risk of infection was moderate)and grade Ⅳ (the risk of infection was low).Conclusion The graded early warning system played an important role in the prevention of dengue fever outbreak in Shenzhen.
