Analysis of malaria control efficiency in Xiamen City from 1950 to 2015

Abstract:Objective To analyze the malaria control efficacy in Xiamen of Fujian Province from 1950 to 2015,draw experiences and provide references for nowadays malaria control.Methods Malaria control data in Xiamen from 1950 to 2015 were collected.Descriptive analysis of malaria incidence and malaria vectors was carried out,and the prevention and control of malaria in Xiamen was discussed.Results A total of 22 870 cases of malaria cases were occurred from 1950 to 2015,the most serious epidemic situation of malaria was in the 1950s.The incidence rate was controlled below 1/10 000 for 17 consecutive years by 1999,and reached the national standard of the malaria elimination.The last case of endogenous malaria appeared in 2001.There were 37 imported cases during 2002-2015.Conclusion According to the characteristics of malaria infection,malaria control strategies and control measures were implemented on the different stages from 1950 to 2015 in Xiamen,and achieved significant control effect.Xiamen reached the national standard of the malaria elimination in 2015,and it is important to continue the surveillance in vector mosquitoes for imported malaria epidemic risks.
