Efficacy observation on the control of Blattella germanica in public areas of an airport

Abstract：Objective To provide evidence for control cockroaches in a large public areas.Methods Reduction in cockroach density was evaluated after the application of insecticide spraying,roach baits and sticky cockroach traps were used.Results The cockroaches collected were all Blattella germanica in 413 surveyed rooms with 23.59％ positive rate and 2.9 cockroaches per room before the control work.However,2 months after the treatment,positive rate and population density for cockroaches decreased to 2.9％ and 0.2 cockroaches per room,respectively.Cockroach density reduced as much as 84.7％.Conclusion Integrated use of insecticide spraying,roach baits,sticky cockroach traps integrated with environment management were efficient in cockroach control based on understanding of the biology of cockroaches and the feature of the large public complex.
