Investigation and control measures for malaria in a special force contingent of peace-keeping

Abstract：Objective In order to control malaria in A Special Force Company (ESFC) for peace-keeping.Methods According to arrangement of Chinese 20th Medical Contingent of peace-keeping,a thorough investigation was conducted for finding out the key predisposing causes of malaria and providing effective prevention measures.Some constructive suggestions were proposed and "Malaria Pamphlet" were handed out already to all contingents.Results Chinese Level 2 Hospital has treated 1 437 patients from 25th September in 2016 to 20th July in 2017,and 93 cases were diagnosed with malaria.There were 39 malaria cases of E-Country peace-keeping contingents,29 ESFC cases with the attack rate of 19.33％ and 10EFPU cases with the rate of 6.67％.A11 measures and suggestions had promoted the essential capability of malaria prevention in peace-keeping contingents,and enhanced the fighting strength of contingents to accomplish peace-keeping operations and missions.Conclusion Malaria prevention requires mosquito control,prevention of the vector from breeding.Insecticide treated mosquito nets (ITNs) and indoor residual spraying (IRS) with pyrethroids are the two main tools of mosquito-borne disease control.
