Termite damage and prevention of gas pipeline in southern China

Abstract：Taking the gas pipelines damaged by the termite at the southern cities of China as examples,to analyze the reason of the termite damages of the gas pipeline in southern China.Coptotermes formosanus was the main species damaging the gas pipeline seriously.During the mating flight season,adults were attracted by city street lights.After pairing,they nested in the green belts.When foraging,the workers were cut off by the gas pipeline laid under the green belts and roads.Gradually,the termites gnawed a hole through the PE gas pipeline,causing the gas pipeline leakage.In southern China,the termite damage was serious.When laying the gas pipeline,it is necessary to complete the termite prevention and strengthen the gas pipeline maintenance work,as well as increase the science popularization about the termite that damages public facilities badly.
