Investigation on termite damage in traditional countries in Zhejiang Province

Abstract：Objective To investigate the hazard species,the damaged objects and the damage degree of termites in traditional countries in Zhejiang Province,and analyze the reason of termite damage.Methods 155 traditional countries were surveyed,and the termite danage to historic buildings and folk dwellings,green lands,ancient and famous trees was surveyed and recorded.Results 93.55％ of traditional countries in Zhejiang Province were infected by termites,and major hazard species of termites included Coptotermes formosanus,Reticulitermes chinensis,Reticulitermes flaviceps,Odontotermes formosanus,Macrotermes barneyi and so on.The rates of historic buildings and folk dwellings,green lands,ancient and famous trees infected by termites were 32.90％,27.55％ and 28.48％ respectively.Conclusion A Iong-term termite control mechanism should be established gradually to prevent traditional countries from termite damage.
