Cockroach surveillance in fourteen cities of Liaoning Province in 2015

Abstract：Objective To investigate the population composition and seasonal fluctuation of cockroaches in different habitats in fourteen cities of Liaoning Province,and provide the scientific basis for cockroach control.Methods Sticky paper was used to trap cockroaches in the surveillance.Results A total of 12 771 cockroaches were captured in 2015 with the average density of 0.163 insects per sheet,and the dominant species was Blattella germanica (97.37％).The highest density of cockroaches appeared in July and August with the average disoperation rate of 14.31％.Farmers markets were the places infested mostly with cockroaches,followed by catering services,residential area,hospitals and hotels.Conclusion The population composition and seasonal fluctuation of cockroaches in Liaoning Province were better understood.It is necessary to make a comprehensive way to control cockroaches.Environmental management and scientific measures should be taken to reduce the density of cockroaches effectively.
