Analysis on the monitoring results of Aedes albopictus density in Yuexiu District

Abstract：Objective To better understand the density development and the distribution characteristics of Aedes albopictus in Yuexiu District,and provide scientific basis for mosquito control.Methods Four methods,breteau index,index of standard rooms,labor-hour method and mosq-ovitrap method were employed to monitor Aedes albopictus in 18 Executive Street Units under Yuexiu District,respectively.The results of the Aedes albopictus larvae and adults density were calculated with Excel tables.Results The breteau index in September was in the highest level.Both of the indexes of standard rooms and mosquito density reached the highest in May.The mosq-ovitrap reached the highest in June.Meanwhile,the outdoor standard-room index peaks occurred earlier than the indoor standard-room index.Kuangquang Street held much higher density indexes than others of the 18 streets.The highest mosq-ovitrap was found in parks,followed by the green belt of the residential areas.Conclusion Green belts in parks and residential areas are much more important places for mosquito control than household indoor.Integrated strategy including environmental management,chemical control and biological control should be conducted in the control work of Aedes albopictus.
