Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of spraying mounted by unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) sprayer for the control of Aedes albopictus in field, and provide methods for the control of mosquitoes in mosquito-borne diseases. Methods This paper provided the study of using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to conduct Low Volume (LV) and Ultra-low Volume (ULV) spray in Ae.aIbopictus breeding habitats.A spray containing 4% permethrin and 1% tetramethylfluthrin was applied at an effective dose of 4.5 mg/m2 and 9.0 mg/m2 in LV spray, and 1.5 mg/m2 and 3.0 mg/m2 in ULV spray, respectively.Mosquito density was measured by human-bait before and after treatment in the treated area and the untreated area. The percentage population reduction attributed to insecticide application was calculated. Results The mosquito density declined by 91.3% when applied at an effective dose of 9.0 mg/m2 in LV spray 25 min post-treatment,by 92.5% when applied at an effective dose of 3.0 mg/m2 in ULV spray 25 min posttreatment. Conclusion The study indicates that this novel spray system is a powerful new method for dengue fever prevention and vector control in China.
