Flea species and their distributions in Changji State

Abstract：Objective To investigate species and geographic distribution of the fleas,and provide reference for the control of flea-borne natural-focal diseases.Methods All the fleas were collected in Changji State during surveillance and identified to species.Results There were 51 species (subspecies) from 20 genera in four families in Changji State.27 species belonging to 15 genera,4 families,were found in Manasi County;17 species belonging to 13 genera,4 families in Hutubi County;9 species belong to 8 genera 4 families in Changnji City;3 species belonging to 2 genera,2 families in Fukang City;4 species belonging to 3 genera,2 families in Jimsar County;28 species belonging to 16 genera,4 families in Qitai County;and 13 species belonging to 8 genera,4 families in Mulei County.Conclusion Various natural-focal diseases are transmitted by fleas.Identification of flea species and geographical distribution can be a great aid in enriching the knowledge of the fleas in Changji State and further controlling flea-related naturalfocal diseases.
