Abstract:Covert consciousness refers to an established phenomenon in which patients with severe brain injuries retain cognitive functions but exhibit no observable behavioral responses. Its core manifestation is cognitive-motor dissociation(CMD).Identifying covert consciousness is essential for evaluating residual brain function, predicting neurological outcomes, and guiding treatment decisions. This article explores the research course on covert consciousness, the employed detection technologies and their clinical applications. It also addresses the limitations of current detection techniques and highlights promising avenues for future research in this field.
