Abstract:Objective To explore the changes in serum connective tissue growth factor(CTGF)and matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1)levels in patients with urinary incontinence after stroke during the rehabilitation course and their relationship with treatment outcomes. Methods A total of 110 patients with urinary incontinence after stroke from May 2023 to June 2025 were selected as the study subjects(observation group),which were further divided into the effective treatment group(n=86)and the ineffective treatment group(n=24)based on treatment outcomes.Another 150 stroke patients without urinary incontinence were selected as the control group.Serum CTGF and MMP-1 levels were compared among the groups. The relationship between serum CTGF and MMP-1 levels and treatment outcomes in patients with urinary incontinence after stroke was explored by Spearman correlation analysis. The predictive value of serum CTGF and MMP-1 for treatment outcomes in patients with urinary incontinence after stroke were evaluated by the ROC curve. Results Serum CTGF and MMP-1 levels in the observation group were higher compared with control group(P<0.05).Serum CTGF and MMP-1 levels in both groups gradually decreased over time(P<0.05).At the same time points, serum CTGF and MMP-1 levels in the ineffective treatment group were higher than those in the effective treatment group after 2 weeks,4 weeks, and 6 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).Serum CTGF and MMP-1 levels in patients with urinary incontinence after stroke were negatively correlated with treatment outcomes after 2 weeks,4 weeks, and 6 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).The area under the curve(AUC)of serum CTGF and MMP-1 for predicting treatment outcomes in patients with urinary incontinence after stroke was 0.782 and 0.865 respectively(Z=7.910,8.116,both P<0.05),which was lower than that of the combined prediction(AUC=0.914).Conclusions Serum CTGF and MMP-1 levels decrease with the progress of the rehabilitation course in patients with urinary incontinence after stroke and can be used as important markers for predicting treatment outcomes.
