Abstract:Hemangioblastomas(HBs)are highly vascular tumors where early diagnosis is crucial for minimizing intraoperative bleeding. While HBs predominantly occur in the infratentorial region, their presence in the pineal region is exceptionally rare, with only five documented cases in literature--four associated with Von Hippel-Lindau(VHL)syndrome and just one sporadic case. The Department of Neurosurgery at Guangyuan Central Hospital treated a middle-aged female patient in August 2022 presenting with nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.MRI revealed a markedly enhanced solid nodule in the pineal region compressing the cerebral aqueduct, accompanied by hydrocephalus. The tumor was resected via a left prone infratentorial supracerebellar approach, encountering significant intraoperative hemorrhage.Postoperative pathological examination and genetic testing confirmed a diagnosis of sporadic hemangioblastoma. The patient's symptoms resolved completely post-operation,with MRI demonstrating total resection and no recurrence during one-year follow-up.
