Research Progress on the Mechanism of Injury and Experimental Animal Models of Blast-Induced Traumatic Brain Injury
Abstract:In military, industrial, and even natural environments, humans face various risks of blast injuries and shock wave damage. In recent years, terrorist activities involving explosive devices have remained active internationally, leading to a large number of victims suffering from blast-induced traumatic brain injury (bTBI). The mechanism of injury in bTBI is complex, with mechanical injury, disruption of the blood-brain barrier, inflammatory response, oxidative stress and neurotransmitter disorders, apoptosis, and changes in gene expression possibly participating in its pathophysiological process. This article reviews the current epidemiological status, mechanisms of injury, and research progress on experimental animal models of bTBI, aiming to provide new insights for the diagnosis and treatment research of bTBI.
