Professional perspectives on primary medical institutions and military-civilian integrated healthcare on islands and reefs of the South China Sea

Abstract:China is a major maritime country with many islands and reefs.Constrained by natural and social conditions,the development of medical services for island and reef inhabitants has been a continuous exploration.Based on practical experiences,this article elaborates professional perspectives on the construction and development of primary medical institutions as well as military-civilian integrated healthcare services on the islands and reefs of the South China Sea.Key strategies include improving routine medical service quality,maintaining emergency readiness,enhancing management of local medical staff and rotating expert delegates,cultivating versatile medical skills,strengthening information infrastructure,promoting decentralized allocation of high-quality medical resources,establishing one dedicated coordination office and two supporting management systems,and persisting in the path of military-civilian integrated healthcare development.The perspectives from the medical professionals will promote the healthy development of primary medical institutions on islands and reefs as well as the military-civilian integrated healthcare industry.
