Confusions and Challenges in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Consciousness Disorders
Abstract:Consciousness disorders refer to changes in arousal and/or awareness caused by various etiologies leading to severe brain injury. The concept and theory of consciousness disorders have undergone more than 50 years of development from their initial stages to consensus formation. Although basic and clinical research in this field has continuously emerged and achieved important progress, people still have a limited understanding of the mechanisms underlying consciousness and consciousness disorders, leading to various confusions and challenges in the diagnostic and therapeutic processes. This article reviews the main advances in the study of consciousness disorders, discusses some issues encountered in the diagnostic and therapeutic process, and looks forward to the role of computer simulation brain model technology in this field.
