Research Progress on the Role of P2Y12R in Central Nervous System Diseases
Abstract:P2Y12R is a G-protein-coupled receptor, belonging to a subtype of purinergic receptors. P2Y12R was first discovered in platelets, and inhibition of P2Y12R can inhibit platelet aggregation and prevent thrombosis, with related drugs playing an important role in the prevention and treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases. In recent years, P2Y12R expression has also been found in the central nervous system. Brain and spinal cord P2Y12R mainly expresses in microglia and participates in their functional regulation, mediating pathological processes such as neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. This review summarizes the role of P2Y12R in central nervous system diseases such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, neuropathic pain, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer's disease, and epilepsy, aiming to provide references for disease research and potential clinical applications.
