Contrast agent encephalopathy after intracranial aneurysm embolization:a case report and literature review

Abstract:Objective To report the diagnosis,treatment,analysis of the risk factors and etiology of contrast induced encephalopathy(CIE)after intracranial aneurysm embolization.Methods A case of CIE patient with typical clinical characteristics and good prognosis was reported,and relevant literature in CNKI,Wanfang data and pubmed database were integrated in the report.Results One case was reported.9 articles were included,with a total of 13 similar cases,1 male and 12 females,aging from 54 to 77.11 cases had underlying disease and the other 2 cases did not have any underlying disease.All had good prognosis.Conclusions Chronic underlying disease,contrast agent type and dosage,operation duration and anesthesia method are all risk factors for CIE.Its clinical manifestations vary,and the diagnosis is usually exclusive.CIE has no specific drugs,and most patients have a good prognosis after symptomatic treatment such as fluid expansion and cranial pressure reduction.
