Abstract:Objective To assess the clinical efficacy of pre-frontal point craniostomy in elderly patients with chronic subdural hematoma(CSDH)and provide a therapeutic basis for surgical management of CSDH in this population. Methods Retrospective analysis was conducted on 83 patients above the age of 65 with CSDH who were admitted to the Department of Neurosurgery of the Air Force Hospital of the Northern Theater Command between October 2019 and October 2023.Among them,44 patients underwent T-shaped drilling pre-frontal point craniostomy as an experimental group, and the other 39 patients underwent burr hole craniostomy as a control group. The clinical data of the two groups, including postoperative 3-month MGS score, surgical duration, intraoperative blood loss, were analyzed and compared. Results The operation time and intraoperative blood loss of the experimental group were better than those of the control group, and there was no difference in MGS score between the two groups at 3 months after operation. Conclusions Pre-frontal point craniostomy has the characteristics of simple operation, short operation time and high safety, which is suitable for elderly patients with CSDH.
