Abstract:Objective The effect of early tracheotomy on elderly patients with severe ventricular hemorrhage was investigated. Methods A total of 60 elderly patients with severe ventricular hemorrhage in our hospital were selected. They were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group with 30 in each group. The patients in the observation group underwent percutaneous dilational tracheostomy and bilateral ventriculostomy at the same time after emergency admission. In the control group, percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy was pefformed when the blood oxygen saturation was low.Incidence of pulmonary infection, admission time, and prognosis after 3 months in each group were observed. Results The effective rate, the incidence of pulmonary infection and admission time in the observation group was significantly different from that of the control group. Conclusion Tracheotomy as early as possible can improve the treatment effect for the elderly patients with severe ventricular hemorrhage.
