Colloid cyst of the ventricle: clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment

Abstract：Objective The clinical characteristics,diagnosis and treatment of ventricular colloid cyst were explored.Methods The clinical data of 5 cases of colloid cyst of the ventricle were analyzed retrospectively and the literature was reviewed.Results One case of colloid cyst in the lateral ventricle underwent cyst resection through right triangle horseshoe flap approach;3 cases of colloid cyst in the third ventricle underwent cyst resection through frontal interhemispheric callosal approach;1 case of colloid cyst in the third ventricle underwent ventriculoperitoneal shunt and gamma radiation therapy.All 5 patients had a good prognosis.Conclusion The incidence of colloid cyst in the ventricle is low and the disease is urgent.Once the symptoms onset,the surgical operation should be considered as soon as possible.
