Abstract:Objective The correlation between the location of the neurovascular compression and the short-term MVD outcome of trigeminal neuralgia was discussed. Methods A total of 50 cases of the primary classic trigeminal neuralgia were reviewed retrospectively, and the location of neurovascular compression and the short-term MVD outcome were analyzed. Results All of 40 cases with dorsal neurovascular compression were relieved after operation.Among 6 cases of ventral neurovascular compression, only 1 case experienced early post-operative pain relief. Conclusion The location of the neurovascular compression (dorsal or ventral) significantly affects the short-term surgical outcome.
