Abstract:Objective The image features of dysembryoplastic neuropithelial tumor (DNET) were analyzed. Methods The clinical and radiological data of 9 DNET cases confirmed by surgical pathology was retrospectively analyzed. Results The clinical appearances of all patients were epilepsy. The onset age of 8 cases was under 20.Male was more than female.Six cases of DNET located in temporal lobe,1 in parietal lobe,1 in temporal occipital lobe and 1 in deep temporal lobe. All lesions showed hypointense on T1WI and hyperintense on T2WI.Fluidattenuation inversion recovery (FLAIR) showed 3 lesions with hyperintense "ring sign",and the other 6 lesions with hyperintense.Four cases appeared as triangle shape,4 presented quasi-circular or oval shape, and 1 appeared as gyrus-like shape.Six lesions appeared as monosaccate,2 lesions were polycystic, and 6 lesions had internal filament septation. All lesions showed clear boundary and no peritumoral edema. Two lesions occurred mild mass effect. The skull remodeling was found in 1 case.Contrast enhanced MRI showed 7 cases without enhancement and 2 cases with slight enhancement.Diffusion weighted image (DWI) scanning of 3 patients showed no restricted diffusion. Two cases were applied magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS),demonstrating lower N-acetylaspartate (NAA) level and basically equal Choline (Cho) level, compared to those of the contralateral brain parenchyma. Conclusion The imaging findings of DNET have certain characteristics, which are helpful to improve the diagnosis accuracy while combined with clinical symptoms.
