Abstract:Objective Effects of physcion on expressions of neuron specific enolase (NSE) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) after transplantation of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) in rats with traumatic brain injury were studied. Methods A total of 40 clean Wistar rats (2~ 3 months, weighing 200 ~250 g) were divided randomly into control group (10 rats),TBI group (10 rats),hUC-MSCs group (10 rats),and hUC-MSCs transplantation + physcion group (10 rats).Expressions of NSE and GFAP were detected by immunohistochemical assay. Results Compared with TBI model group, the expressions of NSE and GFAP in hUC-MSCs group and hUC-MSCs transplantation + physcion group were significantly increased, with the hUC-MSCs transplantation + physcion group the most significant. Conclusion Physcion can induce the expression of NSE and GFAP by hUC-MSCs,and exert its protective effect on the neurons after TBI.
