Application of modern instant messaging service tools in higher medical education

Abstract：Objective The apphcation of WeChat,QQ and other modem instant messaging service tools in higher medical education was discussed.Methods A total of 100 students studying neurosurgery in 2014 were randomly divided into the experimental group (application of WeChat group and QQ group in after-school tutoring) and the control group (the traditional classroom coaching) with 50 in each group.Then the studying effect was evaluated by the test scores and self-designed questionnaire.Results Compared with control group,the students'test scores and the questionnaire result evaluation in experimental group were improved markedly (P ＜0.05 or P ＜0.01).Conclusion Application of modern instant messaging service tools,such as WeChat group and QQ group in undergraduate teaching,especially in after-school tutoring and review process,not only stimulates the students' initiative,but also enhances the ability of independent review and it is convenient for teachers to learn about the students'psychology,ability and learning processes,which greatly improves the teaching quality.It also solves the problem of deficit of discussing platform for teachers and students in China higher education of medical science.
