Endoscopic single nostril transsphenoidal surgery for pituitary adenoma

Abstract:Objective The surgical experience of endoscopic single nostril transsphenoidal surgery for pituitary adenoma resection was summarized to improve the efficacy of the surgical efficiency of pituitary adenoma.Methods A total of 103 patients with pituitary gland disease admitted to our department in the last 5 years were performed the single nostril transsphenoidal surgery for pituitary adenoma under microscope,and the data were analyzed retrospectively and compared with the similar surgical methods.Results In the endoscopic single nostril transsphenoidal surgery,the average operation time and the average intra-operative bleeding volume were less than those of the domestic related literature reports;total resection rate of tumor was significantly higher than that reported in the literature;the post-operative complicafions were significantly lower than those of the related literatures;the post-operative symptoms and endocrine tests were similar compared with the literature reported.Conclusion Single nostril transsphenoidal surgery for pituitary adenora is safe,simple,minimally invasive,short and easy for operating,so it is a good method for pituitary adenoma resection.
