Abstract:Objective The diagnostic value of susceptibility weighted imaging ( SWI ) in brain capillary telangiectasia (BCT) is investigated. Methods The direct sign of MRI scan, enhanced MR imaging and SWI of 15 cases of BCT were compared and the lesions were counted .Results All 15 cases underwent pre-contrast MR imaging, enhanced MR imaging and SWI.In all the sequences above, BCT performance for multiple low signal was observed in brain parenchyma, but the lesion detection sensitivity of the enhanced scan was 39.5%,and T1 WI, T2 WI had the lowest detection sensitivity (22.9%, 22.6%).The detection sensitivity of SWI was significantly higher than other sequences (100%) (P<0.05), and there were significant differences between detection sensitivity of pre-contrast and post-contrast MRI, and the detection sensitivity of T2WI and T1WI was found no significant difference. Conclusion MRI plain scan, enhanced scan and SWI can demonstrate the direct sign of BCT , but SWI with the highest lesion detection sensitivity and the detected rate of SWI for BCT is superior to MRI scan , enhanced MR imaging, and MRA.So it can be used as the first choice for BCT.
