Enhancement of poststroke DNA immunization against neurite growth inhibitors on neural regeneration following focal cerebral ischemia
Abstract:Akaraet Objective To evaluate the effect of DNA vaccine against neurite growth inhibitors administrated after stroke on neural regeneration following permanent focal cerebral ischemia. Methods pcDNA3.1(+)-neurite growth inhibitors(pcDNA-NGIs)was intramuscularly injected into the tibial muscle as soon as left focal cerebral ischemia was permanently induced thigh middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO).The newly generated axons of corticorubral projection were traced by stereotaxic guided injection of biotinylated dextran amine(BDA).Results More BDA-positive fibers crossing the midline and terminating in the contralateral red nucleus in approve target aleas were found in brain stroke rats treated with pcDNA-NGIs after MCAO (P<0.05).Conclusion Poststroke administration of DNA vaccine against NGIs benefits neural regeneration following permanent focal cerebral ischemia.
