Study on the relationship between the expression of inducible factor-1 α and vascular endothelial growth factor and the invaslveness of pituitary adenomas
Abstract：Objective To study the expression of hypoxia inducible factor.1α(HIF-1α)and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and to explore the relationship among their expression with angiogenesis and invasiveness in pituitary adenomas.Methods Twenty-three surgical samples of pituitary adenomas were stained immunohistochemically with antibodies of HIF-1α and VEGF to investigate their expression.Results Both HIF-1α and VEGF were expressed in all kinds of pituitary adenomas.Their expressions were statistically significantly related with patient age(P=0.002;P=0.032)and the invasiveness of pituitary adenomas(JP=0.001;P=0.048).Conclusion HIF-1α and VEGF might play all important role in pituitary adenomas' angiogenesis,growth and invasiveness.The mechanism needs to be studied further.
