Abstract:Diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)is one of the most common and severe complications in diabetic patients, which significantly affects patients' quality of life and prognosis. The pathogenesis of DPN involves metabolic disorder, oxidative stress, inflammatory response and nerve injury, and its molecular mecha-nism remains not fully clarified.Caveolin-1 is a key structural protein of cell membrane caveolae, which is widely involved in cell signal transduction, membrane structure regulation and metabolic processes.Accumulating studies have demonstrated that caveolin-1 plays an important role in neuroprotection, inflammatory regulation and metabolic homeostasis, and its abnormal expression and function are closely associated with the occurrence and progression of DPN.This article systematically reviews the mechanism and regulatory signaling pathways of caveolin-1 in DPN,and analyzes its research progress and value as a potential therapeutic target, aiming to provide new theoretical basis and strategic reference for mechanism exploration and clinical intervention of DPN.
