Abstract:In recent years, clinical statistics have shown that acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)is associated with an extremely high mortality rate.In current clinical practice, the lungs of patients with severe ARDS mostly present as"baby lung"or"white lung",resulting in severe respiratory failure.Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO)is a life-support technique that has shown important value in supporting patients with severe respiratory failure in recent years. Its core mechanism is to replace or partially replace lung function through extracorporeal circulation, effectively maintaining the patient's respiratory function and ultimately buying valuable time for the treatment of the primary disease of ARDS.Based on the relevant advances, clinical efficacy and prognostic factors of ECMO in the treatment of ARDS,this article systematically reviews and analyzes the relevant research progress at home and abroad, aiming to provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for further optimizing the application of ECMO in ARDS.
