Research progress on the relationship between obesity and inflammatory bowel disease

Abstract：In modern lifestyles,physical inactivity and changes in dietary structure have led to an increasing prevalence of obesity.As an independent chronic disease and a pathogenic factor for various chronic conditions,obesity has become a major public health issue in China.Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is a chronic nonspe-cific inflammatory intestinal disorder with a rising prevalence,which parallels the epidemiological trend of obesity.Therefore,this review summarizes the research progress on the relationship between obesity and IBD,aiming to better understand the role of obesity in the pathogenesis and progression of IBD and provide a theoretical basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
