Research progress of traditional Chinese medicine on treating gastroesophageal reflux disease from the perspective of lung and kidney theory

Abstract：In order to expand the thinking of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in treating gastroesoph-ageal reflux disease(GERD),this article summarizes and discusses the research progress of TCM's syndrome differentiation and treatment of GERD from the perspective of lungs and kidneys,breaking through the traditional framework of treating GERD from the spleen,stomach,and liver.Based on the theoretical principles that the lungs govern descending and the kidneys govern water and fluid,this article explores the physiological and pathological connections between the lungs,kidneys,and stomach in TCM,and summarizes the treatment ideas of treating the lungs and stomach together,treating the kidneys and stomach together,and treating the lungs,kidneys,and stomach together.It also summarizes the therapeutic methods of nourishing earth to generate metal,reducing Qi and regulating the stomach;warming and replenishing kidney Yang,regulating kidney water;and harmonizing Yin and Yang.
