Abstract:Indoxyl sulfate is a gut-derived protein binding uremic toxin. With the progressive reduction of renal filtration function in patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD),indoxyl sulfate accumulates in the body, which further aggravates the progress of CKD.This review discusses the effects of indoxyl sulfate on CKD,and discusses the effects of indoxyl sulfate on renal tubular epithelial cells in CKD patients from the aspects of oxidative stress, inflammatory response, and mitochondrial dysfunction,so as to provide ideas for protecting residual renal function in dialysis patients and delaying disease progression.
