Abstract:Stroke is currently one of the most common causes of death in the world. The mammalian forkhead box(Fox)O1 plays important roles in the occurrence and development of stroke, such as inducing cell death and inflammatory response, inhibiting oxidative damage, affecting the blood-brain barrier, and regulating hepatic gluconeogenesis. In view of these roles of FoxO1 in the occurrence and development of stroke, different measures and treatments have been adopted, but the role and mechanism of FoxO1 remain elusive and even contradictory. Therefore, the identification of these effects and their mechanisms will further reveal the FoxO1 signal transduction and related targeted drugs, and then provide an important method or basis for the prevention and treatment of stroke. This article reviews the research progress of FoxO1 in the pathogenesis of stroke and its mechanism.
