Abstract:Under physiological conditions, the metabolism of energy substances such as lipids, glucose, ketone bodies and amino acids in the heart maintains a dynamic balance to meet the energy needs of the heart.During sepsis, the inflammatory responses caused by some chemical mediators such as endotoxin and nitric oxide,as well as the activation or inhibition of certain signaling pathways, will lead to changes in cardiac energy metabolism, which is both a compensatory process and the cause of organ dysfunction. This review will focus on the changes in energy metabolism during sepsis, especially the energy metabolism of the heart, aiming to provide new research directions and strategies for the future treatment of cardiac dysfunction caused by sepsis.
