Correlation analysis between discharge readiness and social support in patients with breast cancer after surgery

Abstract:Objective To explore the readiness for hospital discharge and social support status in patients with breast cancer after surgery and to analyze the correlation between them.Methods Patients with breast cancer admitted to Department of Breast,Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University from January 2020 to June 2021 were selected as the survey subjects.All of the patients were investigated with the general information questionnaire,readiness for hospital discharge scale(RHDS)and social support rating scale.Pearson correlation model was used to analyze the correlation between the total score of RHDS and the total score of social support rating scale.Results A total of 140 questionnaires were distributed,130 valid questionnaires were collected,and 130 patients were finally included.Among the 130 patients,the personal status score was(15.5±1.7),the adaptability score was(27.9±3.3),the expected support score was(26.9±1.5),and the total RHDS score was(64.6±4.9).The scores of subjective support,objective support and support utilization of 130 patients were(8.8±2.4),(7.3± 2.6)and(6.7±2.1),respectively,and the total score of social support rating scale was(22.8±4.7).The total score of RHDS in postoperative breast cancer patients was positively correlated with the total score of social support rating scale(r=0.049,P<0.001).Conclusion The readiness for hospital discharge and social support of postoperative breast cancer patients are at a medium level,and there is a positive correlation between them.
