Abstract:Objective To analyze the relation between dietary vitamin B1 intake and hyperuricemia (HU).Methods A total of 11 591 people undergoing health examination at the Health Management Center of Xiangya Hospital,Central South University were enrolled from October 2013 to December 2015.Dietary vitamin B1 intake was assessed using a validated semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire and the subjects were divided into 5 categories:Q1 group(≤0.29 mg/d,2 324 cases),Q2 group(0.30-0.41 mg/d,2 502 cases),Q3 group (0.42-0.51 mg/d,2 222 cases),Q4 group (0.52-0.67 mg/d,2 289 cases),Q5 group (≥ 0.68 mg/d,2 254 cases).Using the first category (vitamin B1 intake ≤0.29 mg/d) as reference,a multivariable logistic model was established to analyze the relationship between dietary vitamin B1 intake and HU with adjustment of potential confounding factors. Results The prevalence rate of HU was 16.4% (1 903/11 591) in all subjects,22.8% (1 426/6 241) in male and 8.9% (477/5 350) in female. In the overall population and male population, logistic regression analysis showed a negative correlation between vitamin B1 intake and HU (P < 0.05).In the female population, logistic regression analysis showed no correlation between vitamin B1 intake and HU (P > 0.05).Conclusion Dietary vitamin B1 intake is negatively associated with HU in male.
