Abstract:Objective To assess the curative effect of safflower injection on diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN).Methods Literatures of safflower injection treating DPN were searched in databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang,VIP and American National Center of Biotechnology Information(NCBI).Therapeutic effective rate, recovery of motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) and sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV) of median nerve and peroneal nerve were analyzed through meta analysis. Results Seventeen randomized controlled trials were extracted from Chinese databases, with a total of 1 207 patients.Effective rate in safflower injection group (n =619) was significantly higher than that in control group (n =588) [87.4%(541/619) vs 55.3% (325/588),Z =11.81,P < 0.01,odds ratio =6.68,95% confidence interval:4.87-9.15).Median nerve and peroneal nerve MNCV and SNCV recovery in safflower injection group were significantly better than those in control group(P < 0.01).Conclusion Safflower injection has a good curative effect on DPN.
