Abstract:Objective To explore the expression and significance of transforming growth factor β type Ⅱ recepter (TβR Ⅱ),Smad4 in pancreatic cancer. Methods Expressions of TβR Ⅱ and Smad4 in 52 pancreatic cancer samples and 18 adjacent normal pancreatic samples were detected by immunohistochemistry.Correlations among expressions of TβR Ⅱ and Smad4,pathological features of pancreatic cancer and survival time of patients were analyzed. Results Positive expression rate of TβR Ⅱ in pancreatic cancer tissue was significantly higher than that in normal pancreatic tissue [55.8% (29/52) vs 26.9% (14/52),x2 =-8.921,P =0.003].Positive expression rate of Smad4 in pancreatic cancer tissue was significantly lower than that in normal pancreatic tissue [48.1% (25/52) vs 92.3 % (48/52),x2 =24.31,P < 0.001].Expression of TβR Ⅱ was related to the TNM classification of pancreatic cancer(x2 =6.195,P =0.045).Median survival time of patients with positive Smad4 expression was significantly longer than that of patients with negative Smad4 expression (12.1 months vs 7.9 months,Log-Rank =14.622,P < 0.001).Conclusion Patients with negative Smad4 expression are associated with shorter survival period and poor prognosis of pancreatic cancer;there is a correlation between Smad4 expression and TβR Ⅱ expression.
