Abstract:Objective To analyze the blood flow status in bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) with ascending aorta dilatation by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation method. Methods Magnetic resonance imaging data of one case of BAV with ascending aortic dilatation were analyzed by CFD numerical modeling. Results The dilatation region showed a high flow velocity region;the high velocity region showed a high wall pressure;the proximal end of ascending aorta showed a high shearing stress at the junction of ascending aortic sinus canal and 2 cm above the junction of ascending aortic sinus canal. Conclusion CFD numerical simulation method can be used to study the hemodynamic factors of BAV patients.
